Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver

NAUI Advanced Open Water Scuba Diver

This course allows individuals to learn about specialties and diving activities of particular interest. Your confidence and skill as a diver will increase while you experience the excitement of learning more about the underwater world.


During training, students complete a minimum of six open-water dives, including three separate dives for navigation, night or low visibility diving, and deep diving (130 feet/40 meters of maximum depth), plus three additional dives based on your individual preferences and available options. 

Class specifics

  • Cost: $900 USD (NOTE: Discounted pricing available to Vermont Diving SCUBA Diver graduates).
  • Class duration: Varies based on student schedule and weather.
  • Instructor to student ratio: 1:3
  • Minimum of 6 required dives.
  • Maximum depth: 100 feet/30 meters


Required personal gear

  • Primary mask (low volume)
  • Backup mask (low volume)
  • Rigid fins allowing proper finning styles (e.g. back-finning).  Examples:

                ScubaPro Jet-Fins (dry-suit)

                OMS Slipstream (wet-suit)

  • Exposure suit (with pockets preferred) 
  • BCD (Back-plate, continuous webbing, and wing BC) 
  • Weight system (integrated or belt) and (detachable or non-detachable)
  • Primary regulator, long-hose (1.5-2m/5-7’)
  • Backup regulator on necklace around neck
  • Submersible Pressure Gauge (SPG)
  • Cutting device
  • Wet-notes
  • Depth gauge and bottom timer (wrist mount)
  • Compass (wrist mount)


Required gear available for rental

  • Tanks
  • Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) with finger spool
  • Primary light
  • Backup light
